This past weekend I had the opportunity to work with a great client. You all have heard me talk about JP Pinocchio and his Ride for the Ta Tas and his Moms on the Run cancer benefits. I have been extremely fortunate enough to have covered both of those events for him for the last couple years. This year I got the opportunity to work on something else for him. The Reno Rodeo Four Person Scramble Golf Tournament is something the Reno Rodeo puts on to help the Foundation raise a little money. Now you are familiar with a golf scramble right? Easy enough, well golf isn’t easy. It’s frustrating, as if hitting a small white ball several hundred yards away wasn’t hard enough. As Robin Williams puts it, “knock a ball in a gopher hole that’s hundreds of yards away with rock and bushes in your way to a flat piece at the end with a flag to give you hope of finally reaching the end”.
Right so now you have the idea. How about doing this atop a horse’s saddle. That was JP Pinocchio’s idea. Now OK you’re thinking, “yeah that adds some challenge of course but it can’t be that hard”. Right, definitely not that bad, however, the fee included your green fees, the cart, lunch, and, oh yeah, your beverages. Many of these folks didn’t do all of this in the most sober of states. So the culmination of all this made for some seriously fun images. Two people ended up getting completely bucked off yet the longest drive ended up being something like 250 yards. On top of that he had a hole where at the tee box there was a toilet. Try teeing off on a toilet! I would love to show you those images however my second shooter, Tony Contini has yet to deliver images. They are coming soon and I’ll post them or direct you to his site for viewing.
For now I want you to enjoy these images and I want you to dust of your cowboy hat because the Reno Rodeo is rolling into town! See you there!
